Columbine Memorial

Hi everyone!

This week we were so close to getting our friend Hadadi on date for baptism! He pulled out his calendar and stuff but he's just having a hard time committing. We invited a member to that lesson and it was amazing to see how much Hadadi valued and absorbed everything he said. The members are awesome!

We spent a lot of time on zoom meetings this week, especially on Friday since we had new missionary orientation for Sister Wallin and a leadership meeting. It ended up being 4.5 hours that day. We also got to watch the sharing the gospel broadcast from the church which was amazing! It talked all about the principles of love, share, and invite which we have already been talking about as a mission.

For P-day today we went to the Columbine memorial which was really cool to see but also made us kinda sad. It was a special experience to read about all the people involved.

Yesterday we had such a spiritual lesson in Relief Society! It was about the temple and it was so cool to hear people's feelings and experiences from the temple. The Spirit was so strong as we talked about family history and how close our ancestors are to us.

Other than that, not very much happened this week but things are good! Sorry I don't have very many pictures this week.

Another Trio!

Hello everyone!

This week we had transfers and I'm in another trio! Sister Maco got transfered to my last area, Saddle Ranch, with Sister Ray. Sister Syme and I got a brand new missionary to train together! Her name is Sister Wallin and she is from southern California. She is already such a great missionary and it has been awesome having her here with us in the Belleview YSA ward!

We had some great lessons with our friends Hadadi, Jamie, and Alex this week and they are progressing well! Oh I'm also the ward organist again in this ward because the usual organist is out of town the entire month of June.

President Rees also told me this week that I am permanently reassigned to the Colorado Denver South Mission and I won't be going to Ecuador because I have less than 6 months left. Apparently the mission department was working really hard to get me there and I even heard a few weeks ago that it was very likely I would go to Ecuador in the middle of June. I ran out of time though so I will be here in Colorado until December. I'm actually feeling really good about it though because the CDSM is my mission and I love it here! I know this is where the Lord needs me to serve! I also think it would be really hard to start over in a new mission at this point in a different country because right when I started getting used to things it would be time to come home. All of my mission friends are here too! And it will be super convenient to visit when I get back since it's so close to Utah. I definitely want to visit Ecuador someday but for now I am happy to be here in Colorado.

It has been SUPER hot these last few weeks and our AC hasn't been working at all so we were dying. We got it fixed on Friday though and that was a huge miracle for us! Now I'm back to wearing socks and slippers around the apartment haha.

The Sister Young Show

Hello hello!

Yesterday was pretty crazy! I spoke in church and I was the organist. My companions were calling sacrament meeting "the Sister Young show" because I did so much of it. When I got up to speak I saw our friend Hadadi in the back! We thought he wasn't going to be able to come because he told us he had to work. Something came up though and he was able to get work off and he showed up! My talk was about how opposition proceeds miracles and it was crazy because we totally thought we wouldn't be able to get anyone to church but then I saw our miracle sitting in church! The ward was so welcoming and he had a great experience. We also had some super awesome lessons with Hadadi this week and he is just so cool! He has so many questions and is so interested!

Rhonda in the Coal Mine area is also doing awesome! We did lots of service for her this week and had some great lessons. We also helped another person move and we delivered a Book of Mormon and a Bible to someone we are teaching through Facebook who lives in Black Hawk which is still in our area because the YSA boundaries are huge.

We also went to Institute this week and got to help teach the mission prep class! A bunch of my homies from Saddle Ranch were there and they are all in home MTC, waiting so start, or waiting for their mission calls. It was so good to talk to all of them!!

The stake president for the Columbine stake lives in the Coal Mine ward and we had a lesson with them this week. They live in the prettiest area and they wanted to do a walking lesson which was so fun!

My comps are super fun and we've been having a great time. This morning, Sister Syme accidentally threw our keyboard into the dumpster with our trash bag haha so she had to go dumpster diving to get it out and it was hilarious. Sister Maco was holding her legs so she wouldn't fall in and I was filming it of course :) I also twinned with Sister Maco this week and a random lady at the store gave us $20 so we bought some ice cream.

ONE YEAR!

Hi everyone!

June 3rd marked one year of being a missionary! It hasn't always been easy, but I have absolutely loved it and I have learned so much! I'm kinda sad I only have 6 months left so I'm going to make the most of them!

We had MLC in Avon and we all got to sit close to each other and didn't have to wear masks for the first time! I got to hug my past comps who were there!!! I also got to carpool with the Saddle Ranch sisters so I got to be with Sister Ray!!

Also, I'm in a trio now! Sister Maco's companion left this week to her original mission in Korea so she's going to be with us until the end of the transfer on June 17th. She's from Utah but her family is from PerĂº so she's fluent in Spanish and I've been trying to learn as much as I can from her! We are covering the YSA still and Sister Maco's ward which is called Coal Mine. Our schedule has been super packed trying to fit everything in for 2 areas but we are having so much fun!!!

We had a lesson with this lady named Rhonda in the Coal Mine area and it was SO AMAZING! We taught the Restoration and the Spirit was so strong especially when Sis Maco said the first vision and we were all crying. Rhonda is so elect! I extended the baptismal invitation even though it was the first lesson and she was like, "Would you still accept me if I've already been baptized into 2 other churches?" And we were like, "Of course!" So we are super pumped about Rhonda!

We also started teaching Hadadi in the YSA area and we taught him the Restoration as well! We had lessons with him 3 days in a row! We invited him to reach 3 Nephi 11 (when Christ comes) and when we followed up on it, we found out he read 3 Nephi 13 on accident haha but he still really liked it! Also, in one of our lessons with him at the church, he asked if I could play the piano so I played something for him and then he wanted us all to sing a hymn together as I played it haha.

Being a missionary is the best! For P-day today we played volleyball with our district! Life is good here in Colorado:)
