Trio And Training!

Hola everyone!

I have some exciting news!!! I am now in a trio and training a new missionary! AHH! So last Monday night, we got a call from our zone leaders saying that we would be getting another companion because her trainer had to go home and they told me that I am the trainer. I was like, "wait... I'm training, not Sister Rosa???" and they said yes! Sister Rosa is still with us and since she has been out for 16 months, she has been a huge help with the training so it's actually super fun and not very stressful. My new companion is Sister Goldsberry and I love her so much!!! She is from Farmington, Utah. It's actually super weird because she has technically been on her mission longer than I have. She served in New York in the church history sites for the first 4 months of her mission so she started online MTC in May, a month before me. She is very knowledgeable about church history which is super awesome. She was giving virtual tours there throughout the summer. Since she has already been a missionary for a while, we mostly just have to help her with teaching people lessons since she hasn't done that. So even though I am training right now, it doesn't really feel like I am because Sister Goldsberry already knows a lot.  Being in a trio is so much fun! Both of my companions are awesome and we have been having a great time together.

This week it got SO COLD and yesterday it snowed a bunch! I heard that it snowed in Utah too. Yesterday it was 9 degrees and a blizzard. Definitely a lot different than it would have been in Ecuador haha. When we were trying to get the snow and ice off the car yesterday morning before church, we realized we didn't have a car scraper so we all used credit cards because the ice wouldn't come off with the windshield wipers. It was pretty embarrassing for all of us since we are from places that get snow (Utah and Chicago) and probably should have been more prepared. It kept snowing during church so after, we had to use our cards again but that time, our ward mission leader and his wife saw us and gave us their car scraper which was super helpful and nice.

Luckily we are now able to teach lessons inside people's homes so we can still be out and about and not stuck in our apartment all day. We can't eat inside, but as long as we keep our masks on and are 6 feet away from the people, we can teach inside.

I can't believe it's already so cold and it's still October! I hope you all have a happy Halloween this week!

Love you all!

"Righteous Fire"

Hello everyone!

This week has definitely been better with getting more adjusted and all the Facebook stuff we have to do at transfers has died down.

The title of this email is a quote from our friend Shane who got baptized last month. We've been doing the recent convert lessons with him and he told us that ever since his baptism he has felt like there is a "righteous fire" burning inside of him and we were able to testify that it is the Gift of the Holy Ghost that he has been feeling! So cool!

We've been having lots of member lessons as that has been a focus in our mission recently. The goal is to build strong relationships and have a weekly lesson with as many members as possible so that they will trust us and give us their friends to teach.

Last night we had a super spiritual chapel tour with someone we are teaching (Travis), our recent convert (Shane), and their friend (Gordon). Travis is the most logical person I've ever met and we are struggling to help him feel the Spirit. Sister Rosa and I did a musical number and then we had a mini testimony meeting and... I cried. It was so spiritual! The bummer is that Travis didn't seem to be phased by any of it so we don't know what to do next. We will keep trying though! He told us that if he could get a confirmation that God exists and that the gospel is true, he would be baptized so that's good.

Today we had a fun district activity playing sand volleyball at a park. My district is the best!!! We also napped (like we do every P-day haha) because my companion and I have both been exhausted all week.

I don't remember if I said this last week but Sister Rosa likes to run with me! So we've been going on some beautiful runs around the lake by our apartment complex in the mornings which has been so nice.

General Conference Weekend!

Hello everyone!

Transfers are happening this week and we don't know what's happening yet! My companion has been here for 5 transfers so she's probably leaving.

We had combined district council this week and our mission president made a surprise appearance so that was exciting.

We did service this week for someone named Leslie and we started teaching her! I already love her so much!

Conference was so good and I have a bunch of favorite talks haha. I loved Sister Craig, both the Hollands, Elder Anderson, and Elder Whiting. We watched one session with our district, one with the zone, and 2 at our ward mission leader's house.

Today we met as a district in a park to play ultimate frisbee but it was super windy so we played with a volleyball instead but the same rules. It was super fun but way hard to breathe as we were running with masks on.

Sister Smith and I also got matching Red Rocks shirts this week!
