Another Great Week!

Hello everyone!

Yesterday Jake came to church in person!! We had 2 lessons at the church with him and his friends this week and he is progressing really quickly! He said he wants to get baptized but the only thing holding him back is his parents. He told us his parents don't know he's meeting with us and he's really nervous to tell them so that is definitely an issue that we will need to figure out.

We also had exchanges this week and I was with Sister Hogan who is new to the mission. This is her first transfer and I went to her area. She's super cute and we had fun! :)

That sad news this week is that Kynzie dropped us so we aren't teaching her anymore. Luckily, our other people are doing well! We had an awesome lesson with Angie and her 13-year-old daughter, Audrey and two other moms with their daughters in the ward that know them. They are making slow progress but they are doing great!

Not very much happened this week other than that but here are 2 funny stories from the week:
1. We were at a member's house teaching a quick lesson before we picked up dinner from them because we can only be inside for 15 minutes. I was SO HUNGRY and during the lesson my stomach was growling really loud. I was trying to talk louder so the members wouldn't hear and Sister Larsen was biting her tongue underneath her mask so she wouldn't laugh. Hopefully they didn't hear it haha.

2. We have zoom calls with our district twice a week that are called mini district councils. We rotate through which companionship gives a little training about something they think could help the district and it was our turn on Saturday. We are the only Sisters in our district and we've noticed that some of the Elders have seemed a little stressed recently so we decided to train on managing stress from the "Adjusting to Missionary Life" book. We took them through the progressive relaxation exercise in there and we had to keep muting ourselves to laugh because it was so funny to watch all of them. They were closing their eyes so luckily they didn't see us laughing:)

This week was a pretty typical week and not too exciting but still good! I love the Saddle Ranch ward SO MUCH and I never want to leave! I love all the members here! I also love Sister Larsen so much! I love being a missionary :)

"Sister Larsen, Are You Awake?"

Hello everyone!

This week we had an amazing miracle! There is a group of junior boys that are all super good friends in the ward and they have one nonmember friend named Jake who is super interested in learning about the church. We were able to set up a lesson with Jake and all of his member friends were there too! We taught the Restoration and it went SUPER WELL!! The Spirit was so strong when I quoted the first vision and Jake said he believes Joseph Smith is a prophet! At the end, I asked if he came to know this was true if he would be baptized and he said YES! Then I asked if he would prepare to be baptized on February 7th (Sister Larsen and I prayed about a date before the lesson) and he said he wasn't sure but he would think about it.

We had another lesson with him on Friday and Jake read the Book of Mormon intro and testimonies of the witnesses and Joseph Smith. He also prayed about it and said he felt really happy!! He is so elect! We taught the Plan of Salvation and he said it all made sense! He also watched virtual church on Sunday and he said he really liked it! He said he is coming in person next week! We are super excited about Jake!!!!

Okay now time for a fun story :) I woke up thinking it was time to get up and sat up in bed. I looked over and saw that Sister Larsen was still asleep so I was like oh dear so I said, "Sister Larsen, are you awake?" Then she woke up really quick and sat up in her bed too and she was saying, "I can't believe I fell back asleep after the alarm!" Then after a little bit I was like, "Wait what time is it?" and Sister Larsen looked at her phone and said "It's 1:30" so we went back to bed haha. This inot the first time that has happened either lol.

We have been able to go inside some members' houses this week which has been fun! We also recently got a blender so I've been making smoothies every day. Other than that, not very much happened. I'm loving my mission!

I'm An Astronaut (See Pictures Haha)

Hello everyone!!

This week was super good! We are starting to see a lot of success and we are beginning to see the fruits of our labors!

We started teaching this cute girl named Kynzie who is the friend of a member in the ward! They are both 13 and we had such a good lesson with them! The member is super excited and like the perfect fellowship:). A bunch of other members are reaching out to friends this week to invite them to meet with us! We had another great lesson with Angie too! Hopefully we are going to put someone on date for baptism this week! (We are planning to ask both Angie and Kynzie)

Our MLC got to join with the Denver North Mission MLC on zoom and we had a meeting with Elder Wong of the seventy about how to work with the members better. It was a super good meeting and Elder Wong is hilarious.

Exciting news!! A few weeks ago we found Brett on Facebook and we had to pass him off to some missionaries in the Denver North Mission and he is now on date for baptism on February 27th!

We also had virtual exchanges this week which is always fun but probably the most exciting thing of the week is that we can now do in-person exchanges!! We also got news last night that we can meet in-person with members again! YAY! We are so happy because everything has been over zoom for the past 2 months. We're only allowed to be in homes for 15 minutes max though but it is still such great news!!

We've also been enjoying the new youth music for 2021 because we don't get new music very often. Also, we get to join a seminary class on zoom twice a week which is awesome to get to know the youth better. The bummer is that it's early morning seminary so we have to wake up earlier than usual because it starts at 6:10.

Sister Larsen and I have lots of fun together. We laugh A LOT and we had a dance party this morning. She is so funny and will just randomly start singing and dancing haha. This is probably our last transfer together since she has been in this area since July so we are trying to make the most of it :)

Road Trips!

Hello everyone! Happy new year!

This week was transfers and Sister Larsen and I are both staying here in Saddle Ranch which we are super happy about! This transfer is going to be so good! We had to help out a lot though with other missionaries who were getting transferred though so it ended up being a pretty busy week.

We had a brand new sister, Sister Hogan stay with us her first night in the mission because her trainer was finishing up her quarantine from feeling a little sick. She's feeling fine now so it's all good! We had to wake up at 5am the next day to take Sister Hogan to the mission office for transfer gathering to meet her companion. While we were there, I saw Sister Goldsberry (my last companion) because she was getting on the transfer bus to go out west to Grand Junction. She was called as a Sister Training Leader!! I'm so proud of her and it was so good to see her :).

Later that same day, we picked up another brand new sister, Sister Anderson who had to come on a later flight since hers got canceled. She was supposed to be on the transfer bus that morning but since she missed it, she spent the day and that night with us. Then the next day, we got to take a road trip to drive her to Silverthorne to meet her companion halfway between us and her area. She is headed to Steamboat Springs! It was actually super fun to drive her there even though it took most of the day. It is up in the mountains and SO BEAUTIFUL. Luckily, it was really nice weather so the roads were clear but there was still snow on the sides. Silverthorne felt a lot like Park City and it was like we were in a ski resort. It was so fun!

So 2 sleepovers and lots of driving back and forth to the mission office and to the mountains. We are exhausted but it was so fun.

We also had MLC this week but it was on zoom because of snow. We also had a really good lesson with Angie and Audrey this week and we extended the baptismal invitation! They said they've already been baptized (into a different church) which is a pretty common response. Luckily we had a training on what to do if they say that a few days before in district council so we handled it well. In our next lesson we will be talking more about baptism and doing it with the proper Priesthood authority. We are excited for them though and they keep bringing up more friends they have that are in our ward so they have so many fellowshippers!

Yesterday we had a Bible study with this cute lady named Michelle that we found on Facebook! She is awesome and I hope we can continue working with her!

Today we decided to go hiking at Roxborough state park. It was actually pretty warm today! There was still a little bit of snow on the trails but not bad! It kinda reminded me of Red Rocks and it was so pretty! I really want to go back in the summer because I think it would be so pretty when all the plants are alive and green. It was fun to change it up though because usually on P-days we just shop and clean and stuff. I had no idea Roxborough was a thing (well I knew it was an area but not that there were hikes) until this week so that's why we haven't gone yet. It was about 30 minutes away so it was like a mini road trip and it was good to get out of the city and the suburbs for a little bit.

It was a crazy week but a super fun one! I hope you all have a happy new year! I can't believe it's 2021! Oh also, yesterday I hit 7 months on the mission! It's going too fast and Sister Larsen and I always talk about how we don't want to go home. We love it here!
